Keep it Real in Sacramento

The earth rotates around the sun once every 365 and about 1/4 days. So, by adding an extra day every four years, we get mighty close to keeping the calendar consistent with the earth's annual trip around the sun. And to be very precise, the earth orbits the sun every 365.242190 days. So, on years ending in "00", (except those not divisible by 400) we skip Leap Year and Leap Day.   This is leap year and we get our extra day on February 29^th.

It just dawned on me that just about this time two years ago, everything in the real estate market started to change from how it had been for five years before that.  Not all of it has been easy and a good deal of people have been hurt, more are facing foreclosure but maybe, just maybe, where the market is today is leading towards building a better foundation for the future of the industry.  Take a look at my latest column, “Two Years of Change” at Rocklin & Roseville Today, or on my website and see if you agree.

Independence Day is a great holiday.  Maybe because of the historical significance of this holiday but it one of those days were you seem to be able to clearly remember where you were and what you did on so many previous July 4^th’s.  With my recent whirlwind trip to Alaska for my 20^th high school reunion we don’t have any plans yet but even if we stay home and spend a quiet day together it will be great. 

We mailed our monthly newsletter yesterday; I think it is a good edition.  I didn’t know that three presidents died on July 4^th and two of them on the same day.  Do you know which two?  If you are not a subscriber to Julie’s Newsletter, check out the online version and find out.  There is also a great story about our most American food, where it came from and how it got it came to be called a “Hot Dog.”
